So we decided to stop being such LAZY parents, and to really try to toilet train Maddie. The driving force behind this is that we found a preschool that we really liked and the director said they could possible take Maddie as early as the summer...as long as she is potty trained. Hell, if it was up to us, she'd be in diapers for life - you can't beat the convenience - but I guess it's time for us to get off our lazy asses and to help our poor little girl grow up.
So we decided to get moving this weekend.
Dora underwear - check!
Potty chair x 2 - check!
Box of rewards - check!
Recalcitrant, stubborn toddler - check.
And I'm happy to report, that once she realized she could get a Dora prize every time she sat on the potty, my girl had a mission, and she was determined for something to happen. Which it did - 4 pees, and 1 poop on the potty this weekend.
We'll just ignore the 4 times she peed on the floor (sorry about the carpet, Mom!).
We're making progress...preschool is in sight!

Yes!!! Go Maddie, go! (on the potty, that is)
That's great! I've been taking Nathan to visit nursery schools, Montessori schools, daycare... and indeed, potty train seems to be a plus/necessity in some of the places we visited. Glad that you are making progress.
BTW, Maddie looks more Asian now! Maybe because of all the Hawaiian sun!
