Sleep

Ms. Madeline has not been sleeping well at night for the past few nights. Who knows why? We lie awake in our bed at night quizzing each other:

"Do you think it's her teeth?"
"Did you feed her enough for dinner?"
"Why is she waking up?"
"Should we go in?"
"Do you think she's wet?"
"Is she too young to have nightmares?"
"Should we go in???!!!!"

The one thing we could always gloat about was that Maddie was a good sleeper at night. While many of our friends might have kids that are far more angelic, or easy going, or less active than Maddie, at least we could cling onto the fact that EVEN IF she may throw temper tantrums in front of De Vry University EVERY DAY after daycare, well at least we just had to make it until bedtime, because THEN she would be our angel, and sleep peacefully through the night.

Well, I guess we can gloat no more, because she's been getting up in the middle of the night, AND because she's not sleeping well, she's extra cranky during the day. I was trying to herd her into the house yesterday when she decided that even the suggestion that we get out of the FORTY DEGREE weather was so unreasonable that she just had to fling herself down in the middle of the oily road and roll around screaming in outrage. Never mind that a car was screeching around the corner and could crush her tiny body any minute, what could be more important than rolling around on greasy concrete and screaming loud enough that our neighbors had to close their windows. Again.
